Canva: Easy Business Video Presentations in Under 1 hour
A new client recently asked me if we could produce a quick intro video that he could send out to his staff. It was a bit of an unusual request, since a quick email blast usually does the job… but my wife has been telling me for months how amazing Canva is, so I thought I’d give it a try. Sounds fun!
What stood out to me was just how easy Canva is to use. My wife doesn’t usually gush about tech stuff and it’s easy to see why she’s in love with it. The video above was created in under an hour (including the time to learn Canva, sign up for the Pro subscription, figure out what to say, and get creative with the animations). I went “zero-to-hero” in no time at all. The library of graphics and animations had a fun, casual feeling and it fit our company style perfectly.
The Pro subscription for $12.99/month is optional and a free version is available. I saw enough value with it right away though, so I went for the $119.99/year Pro subscription. I already have a $54.99/month subscription for Adobe Creative Cloud, but trying to produce the same video in Premiere would have been way overkill. To be honest, I’m not sure if I’d even know how. 😬
There are plenty of YouTubers eager to teach you how to use Canva, so you’ll never find yourself stuck for very long.
- I found a happy whistling ukulele song to play in the background, but I couldn’t figure out how to let it play across multiple slides. Here’s the YouTube video I found:
- I wanted to screen record a tour of our website, but didn’t see an obvious option for it. Here’s the YouTube video for that:
As you can see, there is an enthusiastic community around Canva, and the best part is… it’s free! For your next business presentation, rather than reaching for a boring old Powertec template, try Canva. You might even have as much fun as I did!
